It’s about that time of year. Time to take a good look at your dental insurance benefits to make sure you’re getting the most out of your coverage. As we all know by now, if you don’t use your benefits, you lose ‘em as soon as January 1st hits, and you work hard (and pay good money) for your dental coverage. Don’t let it go to waste!

Here are some ideas when it comes to making sure you use all of your dental insurance for 2018:

Your Six Month Checkup

Since most insurance companies cover two check ups per year, this probably won’t help you use up your benefits, but you might be able to uncover a cavity that needs a filling or fit in some x-rays or a fluoride treatment. These are all generally covered (at least partially) and are great ways to use your dental benefits before they expire.

A Root Canal

We know getting a root canal is no one’s favorite way to spend the afternoon. We see so many patients that put root canals off as long as possible, but if you have expiring dental benefits, consider calling us to schedule an appointment for your root canal today! That way, you’ll have a healthy mouth and a whole new yearly maximum to enjoy in 2019.

Extractions, Crowns, and Implants

If you have a tooth that needs to be removed or replaced, use your remaining dental benefits to at least start the process. A lot of our patients will do one half of a procedure at the end of one year and the other half at the beginning of the next year to maximize their benefits. For example, we could do an implant in December and add the crown in January. Our schedule does fill up fast, though, so if this sounds like something you want to do, be sure to contact us sooner rather than later to make sure we have availability.
