It’s a typical day and you’re enjoying your sandwich when all of a sudden you bite down on something hard. You stop mid-bite and think to yourself – hmm, I don’t remember this having anything crunchy inside.

Your tongue starts to explore your and it lands on a back tooth. You definitely feel something sharp and know you used to have a filling there.

Oh no!

But wait! Before the panic steps in, let’s just stop and take a deep breath.

Here at The Dental Boutique, Dr. Lindsey Saterfiel wants you to know that we are always here for you in a dental emergency. We make our schedule flexible in order to see emergency patients. And do you know what the best part is? Because The Dental Boutique has some of the best technology, we can fix that tooth in just a few hours!

To explain a bit more, your teeth might have had a large filling in it, and that’s what may have broken off. (Now remember, this isn’t everyone, it’s just a common occurrence we see here in our practice.)

So what Dr. Saterfiel will do is remove that older filling. We clean up the tooth and make sure it’s nice and clean. She examines the tooth to make sure no bacteria may have gotten in and produced decay. Because your filling was so large, the best resolution would be to turn this into a full coverage crown. It will be much stronger for you. But don’t worry! Like I said, we can have this complete in the same day! There is no waiting 2 weeks to get that guy back from the lab.

She will then build up your tooth with a strong resin material that will help build the structure of the tooth back up. Dr. Saterfiel will then scan your teeth with the amazing CEREC technology.

This technology is sent to a 3D printer. You literally get to see your tooth being made!!

It comes out in what we call the “purple phase” before we place it into the over to bake. After about 20 minutes, we have your brand new, made in-house, tooth.

Pretty neat huh?
