“Aachoooo!!  Achoo!  AAAAAchoooooo!”

“Bless you.. bless you…Bless — oh forget it.”

Have you ever felt like you may never stop sneezing? The changing of seasons can affect everyone, but did you know that it may also be affecting your dental comfort specifically?

If you are someone who suffers from seasonal allergies but you also seem to be suffering from a toothache, you may be surprised to know that the two may be related! Possibly.  Now… don’t go to your dentist and say, “Doc, it’s just my allergies, no need to worry!” when you may actually have decay in your teeth!  You may be accustomed to itchy eyes and a runny nose, but allergies can also affect tooth sensitivity, causing you a great deal of pain which is something you do not want to go through!

When having that uncomfortable sinus pressure, taking over-the-counter decongestants has been a very helpful remedy. Typically, if the pressure has already built up, it will take several days with the help of these go-to fixes to relieve sinus pressure and toothaches. You might also try a decongestant nasal spray if you prefer!

Since allergies are not the only things which cause pain in our teeth and mouths, (we wish, right?? )it is important to make sure you don’t have a more serious issue!  With viruses, tooth infections, gingivitis, and cavities that have been known to the culprit of tooth pain, it is always important to have all dental problems ruled out. It’s definitely better to be safe than sorry!

If you would like to head to our boutique office, you could have Dr. Lindsey Saterfiel diagnose whether or not it is those darn allergies that are causing you a little bit of discomfort in your teeth.  Please give us a call or make an appointment below!
