When most people hear the word BOTOX®, they generally think of a cosmetic treatment. This is a very common application for BOTOX®, but it isn’t the only reason it’s used. In fact, we use it a lot as a dental pain reliever!

There’s so many benefits to this minimally invasive procedure, and we want to spill the beans about how great BOTOX® can be! Keep reading to find out more about one of The Dental Boutique’s most popular procedures.

What You Really Need to Know About BOTOX®

First, let’s start out by talking about how BOTOX® works. It blocks the normal signals that occur between nerves and muscles, which causes the muscles to relax. When it is injected in the muscles surrounding wrinkles, they move less which makes them less noticeable.

Dr. Lindsey Saterfiel is certified to provide therapeutic injections to help patients overcome issues related to the muscles in the face. We can use BOTOX® to give you a mini facelift and help you smooth out crows feet, fine lines around the lips, between the eyebrows, or anywhere else you feel self-conscious!

What is BOTOX® Used For?

Aside from a mini facelift, there’s lots of great reasons for giving BOTOX® a try. Like we said in the first paragraph, it can be used as a dental pain reliever. It can help those who suffer from pain in the jaw due to TMJ and for those who grind their teeth.

Aside from dental-related applications, it has also been used to calm muscle spasms, help alleviate pain from migraines, and even control overactive bladders. There’s even been some recent testing to determine if it is a potential option for those who suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, and social anxiety. There may be many other conditions BOTOX® can be used for, but we’ll just have to stay tuned as doctors continue to do more research!

What About Dermal Fillers?

We are also proud to offer dermal fillers at The Dental Boutique. This is a great option if you’re looking to restore some of the volume loss that comes naturally with aging. A small amount of a completely safe gel-like substance is injected under the skin to restore volume and fill fine lines and wrinkles. This is also a great option for plumping up the lips or improving facial symmetry.

The way we look at it, there’s absolutely no need to spend a ton of money on expensive surgeries when you can get a “liquid facelift” in no time at all. Even better, there’s no recovery period with dermal fillers. Most likely, no one will even know you’ve had anything done.

The most important thing is to make sure you are receiving brand name fillers that are FDA approved. You should also make sure a licensed physician is the one administering the injections. There have been some scary stories of people attending BOTOX® parties or getting injections done by someone who wasn’t certified. Yikes! Always ask for someone’s credentials before putting your health and safety in their hands.
